BAKE FOR INDIA

Diya Vasnad's participation in a fundraising initiative.

The second wave of Covid - 19 hit hard and fast, and being unable to help society in any way was very frustrating. So one day, when I was scrolling through Instagram, I came across a food blogger who had started an initiative called ‘Bake for India’. ‘Bake for India’ is an initiative where bakers and cooks from all over India come together and raise money towards urgent Covid relief work in India by selling their food items. This was really interesting and it was something that I could easily do. I started planning, but I was nervous because I didn't know if anybody would want to buy what I bake. So I kept a limited number of 20 brownie boxes, but when the message reached more people, orders kept pouring in and I ended up taking 40 orders! People who weren't in Mumbai also ordered for their friends and family or just asked to donate the brownies.

That week was very hectic, tiring, and exciting as I had never made anything in bulk before.

I ended up collecting ₹20,000 and all the proceeds collected were donated to Hemkunt Foundation, which supplies oxygen cylinders to the ones in need.

This was a very exciting and overwhelming experience and I will definitely take on more projects like this in the future.
