Q: Your efforts do not only bring about an interest in the sociology they also elicit inspiration and motivation in us. May we request you to share a memorable experience or challenge from your early career or your younger days that shaped your approach to the profession?
A: I remember that when I started my first job which was in St. Xavier’s college which was where I studied and I am an alumni of St. Xavier’s [College], I was replacing my teacher. Her name was Amrita Nadkarni and she was so good, so so good at what she did that I felt the pressure to fit into her shoes and when I took over I realized that I thought that ‘O God what if I'm not as good as her’ and I kind of managed to ,over a period of time, cultivate my own sense of ,you know, individuality and uniqueness and I think I lent a lot of my personality to the way I taught my subject so I took a lot of inspiration from her but I think the way that I teach, it has a lot of me in it; so I put lot of myself in the subject. A lot of the experiences that I've had in my life are given as examples in class. I think that it was a challenge but then I turned that challenge into an opportunity and I think I love my subject because I did that.
Q: What social trend do you find most intriguing right now?
A: I find everything that Gen Z does intriguing. Its pretty intriguing because the millennial and I think k that we had a lot trends back in the day but there was no concept of those trends going viral. Today anything becomes a trend and it's pretty cool actually I find everything that everything that Gen Z does very very intriguing so especially on social media and I keep track of these things on social media because I find so many students not only from this school but also from my previous organizations on social media and I know what they are doing I know the reels that they are creating, so many of them are Content creators; I follow their fashion; so everything about them is an intrigue.
Q: Is there any quality that you want to find in your students?
A: Just the willingness to learn and be receptive to learning I think that's a quality that I would like to see in them it's not about the marks it's never been about the marks for me I think for me a good students is one who is listening to what I have to say who is open to my experiences who is giving me that assurance that okay you know that what you're saying I can relate to it giving me examples from their own life teaching me in class so many examples that I give are my my students examples so someone who is just receptive to learning you know telling me more about the subject is somebody who really inspires me as a student.
