The Monsoon

The time is nigh

When raindrops spring

From shattered skies

To bathe the world

The air blooms with grass and mud

Petals blush with coloured cheeks

Man, beast and flower bud

Opens its heart to the rain

Paper boats set sail

Into the puddles tempest tossed

The frogs croak out their endless tales

While laughter soaks the air

The mosaic of umbrellas

Cracks the gray horizon

An audience to the cosmic gala

Of thunder, lightning and rain

The blackened clouds seem silver-lined

As their tears bring joy to the land beneath

And let mortals glimpse the divine

As the season brings us back to life
